One of our favourite Moscow clubs – Krysha mira (literally ‘Roof of the World’) – stands on the roof of an abandoned factory. Created by people who got tired of pretentious newcomers to the elite club scene, it was started as a ‘friends only’ private club and then slowly expanded into friends of friends of friends. It still remains ‘half private’, although you can usually get in as long as you are on the list or you have a club card. Otherwise, unless you happen to be a gorgeous model, you’ll more than likely be turned away by the strict ‘face control-shiki’.
Once inside, Krysha has a pretty chilled out atmosphere, by Moscow standards and great house music to party the night away. Drinks aren’t extortionate in comparison to a lot of Moscow party venues; a Cuba libre will set you back about $16.
